Action Writing Guide
This guide will provide both new and experienced players will a collective understanding of how to structure and format their actions for RTP Superpower in a way that will help both players and moderators improve communication, clarity, and future referencing. Please note, the use of the action format is not optional. While depending on requirements for specific actions, modifications can be made to the formatting guide, it is generally expected that all actions adhere to this system.
Action Format
Every action should be structured using the following sections and formatting style. Use ### for major sections and #### for individual orders so the Discourse auto Table of Contents can generate quick links for navigation.
Summary
Write one or two sentences summarizing the action and its intended outcome.
Example:
“The government will implement a renewable energy investment initiative to transition away from coal power and reduce carbon emissions.”
Orders
List each directive as a subheader. Each line item should be a specific, standalone action. These might include legislation, budgeting, military actions, diplomatic decisions, etc.
Order 1: Allocate $3 Billion to Renewable Infrastructure
Order 2: Pass the National Clean Energy Act
Order 3: Establish International Partnerships for Green Technology
Note:
Orders have replaced goals compared to previous action templates, this is to support a better separation of where actual in game actions and player’s expectations for results and will allow for actions to be easier to reference in the future as required.
Explanation
Each explanation should be a subheader that matches the related order exactly. This ensures each part is easily referenced and organized for the moderators.
Explanation for Order 1: Allocate $3 Billion to Renewable Infrastructure
Explain how the funding will be sourced, where it will be spent, and how the program will be implemented.
Example:
“Funding will be drawn from the surplus in the national budget. The majority will go toward solar and wind projects in underdeveloped regions to also stimulate local economies…”
Explanation for Order 2: Pass the National Clean Energy Act
Describe the bill’s legal content, scope, and how it interacts with existing law.
Example:
“The Clean Energy Act mandates that 50% of energy production must come from renewables by 2035. It includes subsidies for clean energy companies and penalties for exceeding emissions caps…”
Explanation for Order 3: Establish International Partnerships for Green Technology
Clarify the nature of international cooperation and the intended benefit.
Example:
“We will reach out to Germany, Sweden, and South Korea to form research exchanges and co-develop next-gen battery storage systems…”
Expected Results
Outline what you believe will happen if this action is successful. These outcomes should be reasonable, supported by precedent, and take in-game limitations into account.
Example:
“We expect a 20% reduction in coal dependency within five years and the creation of 100,000 green energy jobs. This may lead to short-term backlash from fossil fuel lobbyists and regions dependent on coal mining…”
News Article
Provide a basic news article based on your action, not an opinion piece, you have your national news for that, but a factual report of your actions and with the expected results reported as what your government expects.
