Community Code of Conduct

Community Code of Conduct

This Code of Conduct applies to all participants within the game’s forum and associated Discord server. It is designed to ensure an environment of mutual respect, good-faith engagement, and fair play, both in-character and out-of-character.

By participating in this community, you agree to abide by the following standards.

1. Separation of In-Game and Out-of-Game Matters

  • In-character conflict must remain in-character. Hostilities, rivalries, and strategic competition are confined to the game world and must not influence your behavior outside of it.
  • Out-of-character matters must not be used for in-game advantage. Real-world friendships, grudges, or events are not to be reflected in gameplay decisions or actions.
  • Do not reference or disclose personal information about other players. Real identities, private situations, or off-site behavior are not acceptable topics for discussion or exploitation.

2. Respect for Moderator Rulings and Action Outcomes

  • All game results and moderator rulings are to be accepted in good faith. Even if you disagree with an outcome, do not undermine the process through public complaints or sustained grievances.
  • Excessive complaining about results is disruptive. Players are expected to engage with results constructively or pursue respectful appeals through the Right to Review Policy, not through public protests or repeated dissent.
  • Moderators are not obligated to justify every decision. Transparency is encouraged where appropriate, but moderator discretion is final.

3. Conduct Toward Other Community Members

  • Respect is non-negotiable. All participants must treat one another civilly, regardless of in-game conflict or out-of-character disagreements.
  • Harassment, antagonism, or belittlement will not be tolerated. This includes flaming, baiting, passive-aggressive remarks, and targeted exclusion.
  • Be supportive of newer participants. Gatekeeping or hostile behavior toward less experienced players is unacceptable.

4. Participation in Good Faith

  • All gameplay and discussion must be conducted in good faith. This includes honest representation of information, reasonable expectations, and fair use of available systems.
  • Metagaming and rules exploitation are prohibited. Actions intended to circumvent the spirit or structure of the game are grounds for administrative intervention.
  • This is a collaborative experience. The purpose is immersive, dynamic storytelling—not personal victory at all costs. Personal obstinance at the expense of the wider game is not considered acceptable (i.e attempting to start a nuclear war out of personal frustration)

Note
Good faith in the context of IG interactions does not mean there cannot be decit as there often is in geopolitics, but that there must be a good faith effort to the wider success of the game and that intentional acts to sabotage the game itself will not be tolerated.

5. Prohibited Conduct

The following actions are grounds for immediate moderation, including warnings, suspensions, or bans:

  • Hate speech or discriminatory language (especially when targeted towards someone you know or ought to know would take significant personal offence)
  • Harassment, stalking, doxxing, or personal threats
  • Spamming or thread disruption
  • Use of alternate accounts to evade rules or moderation
  • Trolling or deliberately inflammatory behavior
  • Any and all actions which violate the Criminal Code of Canada (the location of our servers)

6. Discord-Specific Guidelines

  • All conduct standards apply equally to Discord. This includes voice chats, DMs involving game matters, and off-topic channels.
  • Discord use purposes. Discord is not a replacement for the forum, no IG matters should be handled via discord. While it’s unrealistic to expect people to not talk about mutually aligned goals on discord, it should not serve as a replacement for the IG roleplay required to enact such mutually aligned actions.
  • Do not argue about IG matters in public channels. Disputes must be handled privately, and in the matter of moderation disputes, through the proper processes. Discussion is fine, but it should not spiral into OOG hostility over IG matters that derails the ability for other conversations to be had.

7. Moderation and Enforcement

  • Moderators have full discretion to enforce this Code. This includes removing posts, issuing warnings, and restricting access where appropriate.
  • Decisions may be reviewed via formal appeal. Players may request review of moderation actions, but must do so calmly, respectfully, and privately.
  • Attempting to circumvent moderation will result in further action. This includes creating new accounts or shifting problematic behavior to private channels.

8. Platform Rights and Limitations on Free Speech

Participation in this forum and community is a privilege, not a right.

While we value open discussion and a diversity of viewpoints, players do not have a blanket right to free speech on this platform. We reserve the full legal right to restrict access to this site and to remove content that violates the spirit or letter of these guidelines.

We are open-minded on many matters and welcome robust debate, but some content or behavior will not be tolerated under any circumstances. This includes—but is not limited to—hate speech, personal attacks, content intended to provoke or harass, and material judged to be fundamentally incompatible with the goals and tone of the community.

9. Rage Quitting and Cooling-Off Period

  • Players who make a public statement or privately communicate an intent to quit the game, especially in response to perceived setbacks or frustration, will be placed in a 72-hour cooling-off period.
  • After 72 hours, the player will be asked to confirm whether they intend to remain in the game or resign.
  • If the player reaffirms their decision to quit or does not respond within 48 hours of the check-in, they will be suspended from the game for the remainder of the round.
  • Suspended players may not return to the same country or rejoin under a different one for the duration of that round.
  • This policy is intended to ensure continuity and stability for other players, and to reduce disruption caused by emotional or impulsive decisions.

Note
This does not apply to the simple act of resigning from the game due to other factors such as real world circumstances. But is rather a measure to handle the uptick in rage quitting and rejoining that has been observed.
