Gilan - Pestin Trade Agreement

The Most Serene Republic of Gilan has approached the Republic of Pestin to provide food and Silver to the Most Serene Republic of Gilan for the year 490.

Do hereby agree to the following articles.


Article I – Republican Brethren Relations

  1. The Parties affirm peaceful friendship and mutual respect.

  2. Each Party recognizes the sovereignty and lawful authority of the other.

  3. Neither Party shall knowingly permit its ports or vessels to be used for hostile acts against the other.


Article II – Trade

The Republic of Pestin shall provide the following to Gilan for the year 490

  1. 44.8m kg of grains and vegetables at ₰0.02 per kilogram,

  2. 22.4m kg cured meat at ₰0.15 per kilogram,

  3. 2.8m kg fish at ₰0.03 per kilogram

  4. 50540kg Silver at ₰120 per kilogram

The Most Serene Republic of Gilan will pay ₰10,404,800Pfennig- only- in return for these goods.


Article III – Port Privileges and Anchorage

  1. Pestin shall grant Gilan merchant vessels access to its ports for provisioning, repair, and loading of goods

  2. Gilan shall grant Pestin merchant vessels equivalent access.

  3. These privileges shall not be suspended except in declared emergencies, which shall be promptly communicated.


Article IV – Protection of Commerce at Sea

  1. The Parties recognize the protection of lawful commerce as a shared responsibility.

  2. Each Party shall render reasonable assistance to the vessels of the other when threatened by piracy, unlawful seizure, or interference, where such assistance may be given without disproportionate risk.

  3. No vessel flying the colours of either Party shall be deliberately abandoned when aid is practicable.


Article V – Convoys and Maritime Conduct

  1. Merchant convoys organized by either Party shall be mutually recognized.

  2. The Parties shall seek agreement on signalling, identification, and conduct at sea to reduce misunderstanding.

  3. Joint measures may be adopted to improve the safety and efficiency of major trade routes.


Article VI – Road Network Trade Conduct

  1. When unfavourable or dangerous weather prohibits movement by sea, land routes shall be utilised.

  2. The Parties recognize the protection of lawful commerce as a shared responsibility.

  3. Each Party shall render reasonable assistance to the wagons or carts of the other when threatened by banditry, unlawful seizure, or interference, where such assistance may be given without disproportionate risk.

  4. No military patrols of either Party shall be deliberately abandon a stranded wagon or cart when aid is practicable.


Article VII – Silver Shipments / Movements

Special military ship escorts will be given during silver shipments which will only take place in the most favourable weather and least risky routes.


Article VIII – Dispute Resolution

  1. Any dispute arising under this treaty shall first be addressed through diplomatic consultation.

  2. Neither Party shall resort to hostile measures without first seeking resolution through envoys or joint councils.


Article IX – Duration and Amendment

  1. This treaty shall remain in force for a term of one year from the date of ratification.

  2. Amendments or clarifications may be adopted at any time by mutual consent of the Parties.


Article X – Ratification

This treaty shall enter into force upon ratification by the lawful authorities of The Most Serine Republic of Gilan and the Merchant Republic of Pestin.
