Metagaming Policy

Metagaming Policy

Overview

Metagaming refers to the use of out-of-game knowledge or communication to influence in-game decisions, actions, or outcomes in ways that would not be possible through in-game means alone. This undermines the integrity of the game and disrupts the immersive, narrative-driven experience. Metagaming is strictly prohibited . However, due to the nature of community-based games and the casual conversations that happen outside of the game, complete prevention is not realistic. This policy aims to set clear expectations and encourage all players to maintain a strong in-character perspective in their gameplay.

What Constitutes Metagaming?

Metagaming includes, but is not limited to:

Using out-of-game knowledge** about events, plans, or hostile actions that your character or government would not reasonably be aware of in-game.

  • Negotiating or finalizing agreements outside of the game’s diplomatic framework , and then “rubber stamping” those decisions with minimal or no in-character roleplay or diplomacy.
  • Coordinating strategies or outcomes with other players via private messages, Discord, or other platforms that bypass in-game channels and narrative progression.
  • Reacting to events before they occur in-game , based on information received through out-of-character discussions.

Expectations for Players

  • All actions taken in-game must be justifiable within the context of your country’s perspective and knowledge .
  • Diplomatic decisions, especially major agreements, must follow a reasonable in-game process . This includes:
    • Summits or conferences that result in major deals should involve visible negotiation, debate, or deliberation .
    • Agreements should not appear pre-planned or instantaneous without in-character justification.
  • Players should be mindful of how their out-of-character interactions may unintentionally shape their in-character decisions.

Enforcement and Community Approach

We acknowledge that it is nearly impossible to monitor all out-of-game communication. Rather than attempt to police every conversation, this policy is built on a trust-based system and a commitment to immersion and fair play.

  • Obvious or repeated instances of metagaming that harm game integrity may result in warnings, moderation, or removal from the game , at the discretion of the moderation team.
  • If you suspect a player is metagaming, report it privately to a moderator with as much context as possible. Do not engage in public accusations.
  • Moderators reserve the right to request additional in-character justification for any actions that appear to lack proper in-game grounding.

Final Notes

The strength of this simulation lies in its collaborative storytelling and the effort each player puts into creating a believable geopolitical world. Stay in character, respect the narrative, and approach the game as a shared creative experience. RTP Superpower is about diplomacy, espionage, conflict, and cooperation all emerging organically from within the game — not from private chats and backroom deals.
