A formal greeting is offered to the Court of Duke Albers of the Merchant Republic of Pestin by Claudio Marchisio, Naval Commander and Leader of the Diplomatic Envoy for The Most Serene Republic of Gilan to The Merchant Republic of Pestin.
To our Republican and Mercantile Brothers & Neighbour:
The Most Serene Republic of Gilan is looking to its close Republican Brother to enter a trade agreement for 70,000,000kg of food stuffs and 50,540kg of Silver for the year of 490.
We don’t believe the republic of Pestin to be deficient in anything we can produce currently, so we would look to offer raw ₰pfennig currency in exchange for these goods.
If these goods can be supplied and the offer of Currency accepted, we would like to move forward with talks on prices and transportation arrangements to achieve the best outcomes for both our Republics.
Strength and Glory to Pestin and Gilan,
may they both stand tall.
Jaromír z Břevnova Nejvyšší kancléř (High Chancellor of the Realm)
Your Excellency,
On behalf of Duke Albers and the Merchant Republic, I bid you greetings. Long have we valued our good and prosperous relations with Gilan. Therefore, let us speak frankly in this correspondence, as one neighbor to another.
I have it on authority that the granaries and storehouses of Pestin can indeed supply the amount of foodstuffs detailed in your letter. The treasury also has the requisite amount of silver in-hand.
Before proceeding further, as an official of the court, I must complement your knowledge in the matter of payment: the Merchant Republic would, as you suspected, prefer payment in pfennigs.
We can offer the following to meet Gilan’s needs: 44.8m of grains and vegetables at ₰0.02 per kilogram, 22.4m cured meat at ₰0.15 per kilogram, and 2.8m fish at ₰0.03 per kilogram. We desire payment at current market price for the silver.
Let us speak further on this matter, if these numbers prove agreeable.
The swift response to our envoy is much appreciated by Gilan.
The Most Serene Republic of Gilan accepts these terms and will look to use our Merchant Navy to move as much of the good via sea as possible. Patrols are to be carried out to minimise losses to Piracy. Over land routes will be used in bad weather or to fill shortfalls as to not risk losses of Ships and produce.
The roads will be patrolled to reduce banditry whilst these transactions take place.
Special military escorts will be given during Silver shipments which will only take place in the most favourable weather and least risky routes.
We believe the curent market rate of silver to be 120 per kg, if this is agreeable,
the total figure to be paid for the food and silver to be ₰10,404,800.
We will begin preparations for transfer of currency and goods immediately.
Strength and Glory to Pestin and Gilan.
